- started in 1861 as 1st Administrative Battalion, Herefordshire and Radnorshire Rifle Volunteers
- 1880 to 1st Herefordshire (Hereford and Radnor) Rifle Volunteers
- 1908 to Herefordshire Battalion, The King's (Shropshire Light Infantry) (without the Radnorshire companies)
- 1909 to 1st Battalion, The Herefordshire Regiment
- 1947 to 1st Battalion The Herefordshire Light Infantry (TA)
