The Welch Regiment bimetal cap badge

The Welch Regiment was a infantry regiment.

The unit was first formed as the Welsh Regiment in 1881 by merging the 41st Welch Regiment of foot and the 69th South Lincolnshire Regiment of foot.

In 1921 they re-named the unit to The Welch Regiment using the old way of spelling.

In 1888 after the Suakin Sudan war General Sir Herbert Kitchener gave praise to the regiment as they didn't lose a single man in the fight.
